In Migisi Sahgaigan (Eagle Lake First Nation), water is an important part of life. This video traces the issues surrounding drinking water in the community. There are concerns of mercury contamination in the community’s water source due to a pulp mill in nearby Dryden, which has been dumping contaminates in region. Community members are challenged with accessing clean healthy drinking water.

Ryan Suzuki, a community journalism trainer in our Indigenous Reporters Program, chronicles his journey for clean drinking water while living in Migisi Sahgaigan.

Community journalism training is an integral part of JHR’s larger Indigenous Reporters Program. In-community training in Ontario is generously supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
