Indigenous Reporters Program Manager: The Program Manager will oversee all aspects of Journalists for Human Rights’ Indigenous Reporters Program (IRP). The IRP is aimed at increasing the quality and quantity of Indigenous stories and voices in Canadian media. It does this by offering a series of scholarships, internships, professional development workshops for journalists and skills development training in First Nations communities.
Community Journalism Trainer – Indigenous Reporters Program : The journalism trainer will spend four to six months living in one First Nations community in Northwestern Ontario, training community members in media production and engagement. The goal of this training will be to establish regular news programming in the community, provide media literacy training to community members and train select community members how to report on and from their communities and get their work published in mainstream and Indigenous media across Canada. The journalism trainer’s role is as an educator working with Indigenous community members to assist in the development and publication of their own stories, not as an embedded journalist reporting from the community placement.
