Journalists for Human Rights Gender Impact Report
Strategies and Case Studies of Success in the DRC, South Sudan and Syria
Today, on International Women’s Day, JHR is celebrating its 12-year track-record of success in gender strategy by launching our Gender Impact Report. The stories of impact in it, such as those cited above, signal the wisdom of Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy in practice.
As media leaders, women work together to tackle difficult issues. They often depoliticize coverage in favour of putting so-called women’s concerns — stories about health, education, child welfare and the environment — high up the agenda. Putting a spotlight on women’s issues helps prioritize solutions. The result is often both good for communities, and good for the outlet’s business.
All this, simply by putting women in the driver’s seat of development.
The report features JHR’s strategies on gender and development and case studies of success from DRCongo, South Sudan and Syrian.
